| Parent Involvement |
| Allambie Heights is committed to parental involvement and participation within the school and believes that the teachers and parents work together to enhance educational opportunities for all children. Parents can support the school by being actively involved in all parent organisations within the school such as P&C, School Council, canteen, band, environment committee, uniform shop, helping with excursions, helping in the library and assisting with class activities . |

| Parent Teacher Liaison |
|
| Parents are always welcome at the school and members of staff are happy to meet them to discuss student progress or any particular issue concerning their child. It is essential that when parents wish to see a particular teacher, they make an appointment. |

| Parking |
|
| Due to the safety of the children, parents are requested not to enter the school property in their vehicles. If parents are working on a volunteer basis at the school or collecting children from school, the most convenient parking area is Roosevelt Avenue or Allambie Oval where ample parking is available. |

| Peer Support |
|
| Peer Support groups are formed and meet weekly for ten weeks. Groups comprise children from kindergarten through to year 6 and provide support for younger children and leadership opportunities for senior students. |

| Reading Recovery Program |
|
| Reading Recovery is an early intervention strategy, which is based on an explicit instructional program in a one to one situation with a trained Reading Recovery teacher. It is offered to children in Year 1 who have completed one year of schooling and are regarded as requiring extra support in literacy in order to function at the same level as their peers. Entry into this program is based on tests and teacher observation. |

| Religious Instruction |
|
Visiting clergy and lay teachers visit the school weekly on a Wednesday.

| The school has developed an assessment & reporting timeline. Student worksamples demonstrate student progress towards achievement of syllabus outcomes. |

| School Counsellor |
| The school counsellor visits the school one and a half days per week and is available to provide counselling support, assess student learning/behaviour and assist teachers and parents with strategies to address a student’s needs. |

The school rules developed at Allambie Heights Public School are based on the Student Welfare Policy of the school and have been developed with the co-operation of the students, teachers and parents. The school rules are:

| School Uniform |
The wearing of the school uniform by all children is fully supported and endorsed by the Parents & Citizens Association of Allambie Heights Public School. Parents can support the school and the P&C by ensuring that their child comes to school in full school uniform.
The school has a uniform stop located between the Kindergarten classroom and the Literacy Centre. The store has a full range of boys and girls clothing as well as the following items being available from the school canteen:
Calico shoulder bags, screen printed with school badge, suitable for excursions, library bags and school hats in school colours.

| School Times |
Parents are requested to ensure that their children do not arrive at school before 8.40am. Before this time there is no supervision except in the case of sport training, or special groups such as dance, music, drama, computer club etc.
Before and After School Care is available on the school premises.For further information please contact the Allambie Heights Child Care Centre on 9975 1308.

| School Sports Program |
|
Sport is an important part of the Personal Development, Health, Physical Education Syllabus. Allambie Heights Public School provides an extensive sports program catering for all levels of ability and interest.
The four sports houses are:
FRASER (YELLOW)
BRADMAN (RED)
McKAY (GREEN)
ROSEWALL (BLUE)
Inter-school sport is organised through the Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) and is played against other schools on Friday. Some of the sports offered are: fitness programs, soccer, netball, T-ball, softball, cricket, gymnastics, basketball, swimming, athletics, tennis and cross country programs.

| Supervision of Children |
|
| Children are supervised at all play times and adequate protection and care is provided. Parents are requested to ensure that their children do not arrive at school before 8.40am and do not return to the school after they are dismissed at 3.10pm. |

| School Council |
|
| The School Council represents parents, staff and the community in the formulation of policy direction for the school. The School Council does not make decisions on short-term daily management issues, but focuses on significant issues and overall policies. The council is also involved with the selection of school executive staff and determining community use of school facilities. The School Council comprises elected and appointed members of the school staff, parent body and the community. |

| P&C Meetings are held each month at 7.30pm in the school library. Parents are provided with an opportunity to discuss school matters and common interests. Various sub-committees operate under the umbrella of the P&C and report regularly at the meetings. |
